How we earn money

InternetGermany.de is a comparison and information site. It is not an internet provider and it does not sell a connection.

Some providers may pay a commission if you continue to their site through an affiliate link. That commission is paid by the provider. It does not change the published prices, contract length or advertised speed, and it does not change the price sort.

Affiliate links are stored separately from the price feed. If a plan has no tracking URL, the button opens the provider’s official page.

congstar Home and Homespot buttons use Awin tracking URLs for the matching tariff. Phone, prepaid and mobile-plan rows from that feed are not used. Other providers still open their official pages until a tracking URL is on file.

O2 internet in Germany

If you are considering O2 for a German home, the key choice is not only speed but whether your address receives DSL, cable or fibre. O2 internet Germany plans use a consistent 24-month structure: introductory pricing applies for the first 12 months, then the monthly charge rises from month 13. We reviewed O2’s published residential plans and found unlimited data, a German landline and the same €9.99 activation charge across the range.

Choosing O2 for your address

Start with O2’s address check. The Home S, M, L, XL and XXL labels can appear with different connection technologies, so the plan name alone does not tell you the speed or price available at your home.

O2 offers fixed home service through DSL, cable and fibre, but availability always depends on the exact address. Compare the result by technology, download and upload speed, later monthly price and installation requirements. If you want a broader reference point, you can also compare home internet in Germany.

O2 connection types and plans

All the plans below have unlimited data, a German landline, a 24-month term and a €9.99 activation charge. Speeds are stated as download/upload, while prices are monthly introductory and later charges.

O2 DSL plans

DSL internet is offered through three O2 Home tiers:

  • O2 Home S (DSL): 50 / 20 Mbit/s, €19.99, then €34.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home M (DSL): 100 / 40 Mbit/s, €24.99, then €39.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home L (DSL): 250 / 40 Mbit/s, €29.99, then €44.99 from month 13.

O2 cable plans

The cable range extends to higher download speeds:

  • O2 Home S (CABLE): 50 / 25 Mbit/s, €19.99, then €34.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home M (CABLE): 150 / 75 Mbit/s, €24.99, then €39.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home L (CABLE): 300 / 75 Mbit/s, €29.99, then €44.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home XL (CABLE): 600 / 75 Mbit/s, €39.99, then €54.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home XXL (CABLE): 1000 / 75 Mbit/s, €44.99, then €59.99 from month 13.

O2 fibre plans

Where fibre internet is available, O2 offers four tiers:

  • O2 Home M (Fibre): 150 / 75 Mbit/s, €24.99, then €39.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home L (Fibre): 300 / 150 Mbit/s, €29.99, then €44.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home XL (Fibre): 600 / 300 Mbit/s, €44.99, then €59.99 from month 13.
  • O2 Home XXL (Fibre): 1000 / 500 Mbit/s, €54.99, then €69.99 from month 13.

What our review found about prices and setup

O2 uses a clear introductory-price pattern. Every reviewed plan increases by €15 per month from month 13, so the later price matters when assessing the full 24-month commitment. The promotional monthly charge should not be treated as the price for the entire contract.

The activation charge is consistently €9.99. A router is not included in the base prices we reviewed, so account for any router cost presented during ordering rather than comparing the monthly tariff alone.

Contracts and flexibility

These O2 home internet plans have a 24-month term. That structure may suit you if you expect to remain at the address, but it deserves closer attention if you are renting temporarily or may move.

Before ordering, check the cancellation deadline, what happens after the initial term and how a move would be handled. If commitment is your main concern, read our guide to internet without a long contract in Germany and verify O2’s current alternatives directly.

Address check, router and installation

The address result should be the basis of your decision. It determines whether O2 DSL, O2 cable or O2 fibre can be ordered and which speed tiers are offered for the property.

Because a router is not included in the base price, confirm the available device, its charge and whether a compatible router you already own can be used. Also check whether installation work or an appointment is needed, particularly when moving into a new home. Our guide to getting internet in Germany explains the usual ordering preparation.

How the O2 technologies differ

DSL uses the fixed telephone-line infrastructure, cable uses the property’s cable connection, and fibre-to-the-home runs fibre to the premises. Your address may qualify for only one of these options, so the technology cannot be chosen independently of local availability.

The O2 speed profiles also differ. DSL reaches 250 / 40 Mbit/s in the reviewed range. Cable reaches 1000 / 75 Mbit/s, while fibre reaches 1000 / 500 Mbit/s and provides higher upload speeds at the upper tiers. Upload capacity is particularly relevant when sending large files, backing up data or making frequent video calls.

What to confirm before you order

Match the final order details to the exact technology rather than relying on the O2 Home tier name. Home M, L, XL and XXL can represent different speeds or prices when delivered over cable or fibre.

  • The technology and speed available at your full address.
  • The introductory price and the higher charge from month 13.
  • The 24-month term and cancellation conditions.
  • The €9.99 activation charge and any router cost.
  • Whether installation work or an appointment is required.
  • That the order includes unlimited data and the expected German landline service.

Review these points in the final contract information before submitting the order.

O2: short answers

Confirm the live offer at your address.

Does O2 home internet Germany include unlimited data?

Yes. Every O2 home plan we reviewed includes unlimited data, whether the connection uses DSL, cable or fibre. The data allowance is therefore consistent across the range. Your main decisions are the available technology, download and upload speed, introductory and later monthly prices, and contract term. Check the final order details for your address before submitting the order.

Which connection types are available for O2 Germany internet?

O2 Germany internet for the home is offered over DSL, cable and fibre-to-the-home. The specific technology and speed depend on your exact address. The same Home tier can have different specifications depending on the network used, so complete the address check and read the full result rather than choosing solely by a label such as Home M or Home L.

How fast is O2 DSL?

O2 DSL is offered at 50 / 20 Mbit/s with Home S, 100 / 40 Mbit/s with Home M and 250 / 40 Mbit/s with Home L. All three reviewed DSL plans include unlimited data and a German landline. They have 24-month terms, introductory monthly prices and a higher monthly charge from month 13.

Which O2 cable plans are available?

O2 cable spans Home S, M, L, XL and XXL, with reviewed download speeds from 50 to 1000 Mbit/s. Upload speeds range from 25 to 75 Mbit/s. Every cable plan includes unlimited data and a German landline, uses a 24-month term and costs €15 more per month from month 13 than during its introductory period.

What speeds does O2 fiber offer?

O2 fiber, written as fibre in the plan names, starts with Home M at 150 / 75 Mbit/s. Home L provides 300 / 150 Mbit/s, Home XL provides 600 / 300 Mbit/s and Home XXL provides 1000 / 500 Mbit/s. Availability depends on the exact address, and the later monthly price applies from month 13 of the 24-month term.
