Check your exact Berlin building before choosing a tariff: the best internet provider in Berlin is the one that can actually activate the right connection at your flat. Compare the available technology, realistic speed, contract length and full-term cost after each provider’s address check. Fibre, DSL, cable and 5G home offers may differ between neighbouring buildings because the connection into the property, internal wiring and the building owner’s arrangements all matter.

To TelekomBerlin internet providers worth checking include Telekom, Vodafone, O2, 1&1, congstar, Deutsche Glasfaser and PŸUR. Their inclusion as options does not mean that every provider or tariff can serve your building.
The published residential plans we reviewed cover different combinations of technology. Telekom and 1&1 have DSL and fibre plans; Vodafone has DSL and cable plans; and O2 has DSL, cable and fibre plans. congstar has DSL, fibre and 5G home options, while the reviewed Deutsche Glasfaser plans use fibre. The technology for PŸUR is address dependent.

Fibre internet can provide high download and upload speeds when a fibre connection reaches the property. Published plans from the providers above include speeds from 100/50 Mbit/s to 1,000/500 Mbit/s, although the exact choice must be confirmed for your building.
DSL internet uses the telephone line and remains an option where the address check supports it. The reviewed DSL plans range from 16/2.4 Mbit/s to 250/40 Mbit/s. Your order confirmation should state the expected performance for the line rather than only the tariff’s headline maximum.
Cable internet uses a compatible coaxial connection in the building. Reviewed cable tariffs range from 50/25 Mbit/s to 1,000/75 Mbit/s. Check that your flat has the necessary connection and compare the upload speed as well as the download figure.
The only 5G home internet product we compare is congstar Homespot & Go. Its published plans offer up to 50/25 Mbit/s with allowances of 100 GB, 200 GB or 400 GB and a choice of flexible or 24-month terms. Mobile reception and indoor signal quality still need checking at the intended location.
Ask your landlord, previous tenant or Hausverwaltung which connection and sockets are already present. Photograph the telephone, cable or fibre outlet if you are unsure what it is. For a new installation, confirm who can provide access to shared technical rooms and whether the provider needs the owner’s permission for building work.
Order early enough to allow for equipment delivery and any technician appointment. Keep your full address, floor, flat position and contact name consistent so the provider can identify the connection correctly. Our guide to getting internet in Germany explains the usual ordering steps. If you need a temporary connection, consider mobile internet while the fixed line is being activated.
Arranging internet elsewhere? Read our guides to internet providers in Munich and internet providers in Frankfurt. Availability remains tied to the individual building in every city. For broader provider and technology guidance, visit our German home internet comparison.
Short answers for people choosing home internet at this city address.
There is no single provider that is best for every Berlin address. Start by checking which providers and technologies can serve your building. Then compare expected speed, upload performance, contract length, price changes and one-off charges. The strongest choice is the available plan that suits your household’s usage and the length of time you expect to remain in the flat.
Use provider address checks and the Bundesnetzagentur Breitbandatlas to find out. Fibre availability can differ between buildings, and a connection near the property does not necessarily mean your flat is ready to use it. Ask the landlord or Hausverwaltung whether fibre enters the building, whether a fibre socket exists in the flat and whether installation work requires permission.
Flexible options exist, but they still require an address and product check. For example, congstar publishes flexible DSL, fibre and Homespot & Go plans. Compare the activation charge and monthly price with longer-term alternatives before deciding. Our guide to internet without a contract in Germany explains what to examine.
Choose from the technologies confirmed at your building. Fibre can offer strong download and upload speeds, cable may provide high download speeds through compatible coaxial wiring, and DSL uses the telephone line. Compare the provider’s expected speed, not just the advertised maximum. Existing sockets, installation requirements, contract cost and your need for upload capacity should influence the decision.
Using an existing working socket may not require building work, but a new cable or fibre route can involve walls, shared areas or technical rooms. Ask your landlord or Hausverwaltung before authorising alterations. The provider should explain what the installation requires, while the building manager can confirm access arrangements and whether approval is needed for the proposed work.
