How we earn money

InternetGermany.de is a comparison and information site. It is not an internet provider and it does not sell a connection.

Some providers may pay a commission if you continue to their site through an affiliate link. That commission is paid by the provider. It does not change the published prices, contract length or advertised speed, and it does not change the price sort.

Affiliate links are stored separately from the price feed. If a plan has no tracking URL, the button opens the provider’s official page.

congstar Home and Homespot buttons use Awin tracking URLs for the matching tariff. Phone, prepaid and mobile-plan rows from that feed are not used. Other providers still open their official pages until a tracking URL is on file.

1&1 internet in Germany

If you are comparing 1&1 internet Germany plans for a move or a new home, the main choice is DSL versus fibre at your exact address. We reviewed 1&1’s published residential plans: list prices run from €37.99 to €69.99 per month, every plan has a 24-month term, and a €49.95 activation fee applies. All include unlimited data and a German landline, while router packages are optional. Check the address before choosing a speed, especially for fibre.

Choosing 1&1 for your address

The decisive question is not simply whether 1&1 serves your town. Availability and the speed profile offered depend on the exact building and its access network. One address may qualify for fibre, while another nearby may receive only particular DSL speeds.

Start with the address check, then compare the available download and upload rates with how you use the connection. A smaller household with routine browsing and streaming may not need the fastest option, whereas regular large uploads and several simultaneous users can make a higher profile more useful.

If you are arranging service before a move, our guide to getting internet in Germany explains the practical steps.

1&1 connection types and plans

1&1 Germany internet is offered through DSL and fibre. Every plan reviewed has unlimited data, a German landline, a 24-month contract and a €49.95 activation fee. The following amounts are monthly list prices.

1&1 DSL plans

  • 1&1 DSL 16: 16 Mbps download and 2.4 Mbps upload for €37.99 per month.
  • 1&1 DSL 50: 50 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload for €42.99 per month.
  • 1&1 DSL 100: 100 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload for €42.99 per month.
  • 1&1 DSL 250: 250 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload for €47.99 per month.

1&1 fibre plans

  • 1&1 Fibre 150: 150 Mbps download and 75 Mbps upload for €44.99 per month.
  • 1&1 Fibre 300: 300 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload for €49.99 per month.
  • 1&1 Fibre 600: 600 Mbps download and 300 Mbps upload for €59.99 per month.
  • 1&1 Fibre 1000: 1,000 Mbps download for €69.99 per month. Confirm the upload rate for your access network with 1&1.

What our review found about prices and setup

The price progression is not based only on headline download speed. DSL 50 and DSL 100 share the same €42.99 monthly list price, while DSL 250 costs €47.99. If both profiles are offered at your address, the faster profile therefore deserves particular attention before you order.

The fibre prices rise with each published speed tier, from €44.99 for Fibre 150 to €69.99 for Fibre 1000. No separate later monthly rate is stated for these plans, so check the final order summary for the billing schedule. Remember to include the €49.95 activation fee and any chosen router package when assessing the total cost.

Contracts and flexibility

All the 1&1 DSL and fibre plans reviewed use a 24-month contract. That structure may suit you if you expect to remain at the address, but it deserves care if your job, studies or tenancy may require an earlier move.

Unlimited data means these tariffs do not have a stated data allowance, but it does not guarantee that every speed will be available at your home. Before agreeing, check the cancellation rules, what happens after the initial term and how a relocation would be handled. If commitment length is your priority, read our guide to internet without a long contract in Germany.

Address check, router and installation

Enter the complete service address before treating any plan as an option. The result should identify whether DSL or fibre can be ordered and which speed profile the access network supports. Fibre upload rates can also depend on that network.

Router choice

A router is not included in the base prices above. 1&1 offers optional router packages, so confirm the hardware, its charge and whether you may use a compatible router of your own.

Connection appointment

Ask whether your home needs an engineer visit, line activation or additional fibre work. Confirm the proposed activation date and any further installation charge before completing the order, particularly when moving into a property without an active connection.

How the 1&1 technologies differ

DSL internet uses the fixed-line access available at the property. With 1&1, the reviewed profiles range from 16 Mbps to 250 Mbps download. Upload speeds range from 2.4 Mbps to 40 Mbps, and the higher DSL download profiles do not necessarily provide a higher upload rate.

Fibre internet provides the stronger upload figures within this 1&1 range. Fibre 150, 300 and 600 offer upload rates equal to half their download rates. The upload rate for Fibre 1000 should be confirmed for your address. Fibre is only a practical choice when the relevant access network reaches the property and the tariff is orderable there.

What to confirm before you order

Check the exact technology, download and upload rate returned for your address rather than relying on the plan name alone. Confirm the monthly list price, €49.95 activation fee, contract term and whether the German landline meets your needs.

Review the router package separately because it is not part of the base price. You should also confirm installation requirements, the expected activation process, cancellation conditions and the terms that apply after the initial contract period.

If you want to judge 1&1 alongside other fixed-line options, use our German home internet comparison. Compare only plans that are genuinely available at your address and include all setup and equipment charges in your decision.

1&1: short answers

Confirm the live offer at your address.

What is included with 1&1 Germany internet plans?

The reviewed residential plans include unlimited data and a German landline. Each has a 24-month contract and a €49.95 activation fee. A router is not included in the stated base price, although optional router packages are offered. Confirm the selected package, equipment charge, installation requirements and exact address-based speed before placing an order.

How much does 1&1 DSL cost?

Monthly list prices are €37.99 for 1&1 DSL 16, €42.99 for DSL 50, €42.99 for DSL 100 and €47.99 for DSL 250. Each plan also has a €49.95 activation fee and a 24-month term. A router is not included in these base prices, so account for any optional equipment package separately.

Which 1&1 fiber speeds are offered?

Using the US spelling, 1&1 fiber refers to the Fibre 150, Fibre 300, Fibre 600 and Fibre 1000 plans. Their download speeds are 150, 300, 600 and 1,000 Mbps respectively. Published uploads are 75, 150 and 300 Mbps for the first three plans. Confirm the Fibre 1000 upload rate and availability for your address.

Do 1&1 internet plans have a long contract?

All the reviewed 1&1 home internet plans have a 24-month term. Before ordering, read the cancellation and renewal conditions and check how a move would affect the agreement. This is particularly important for expats, students and tenants who may not remain at the same address for the complete initial contract period.

Does 1&1 include a router or installation?

A router is not included in the stated base plan price. Optional router packages are available, but you should confirm the exact model and charge during ordering. Installation needs depend on the property and connection type, so ask whether an engineer appointment, line activation or fibre work is required and whether any additional cost applies.
